week 9
Alas, the 9th and final week of this adventure! So this week was podcasts. I have to be honest I have never watched a podcast, but they seem to be a really good and convenient way to watch those shows or lectures you could not make in the first place. As I was riding in Katherine's car yesterday coming back from the Lumpkin's jail tour, Jeffrey was nice enough to give us a quick tour of Richmond as we were winding our way through the streets. I forget who, but someone made the suggestion that the VHS should do a walking tour of downtown Richmond, Shockoe Bottom area in particularly. I think this would be a GREAT podcast!!

2 for 1: week 7 & 8
Hello there,
So I signed up for the VHS wiki and completely forgot to write about it. I really really like the wiki updates. Even though, I don't have anything to add right now for the general public of the VHS, but I do enjoy reading everyone's wikis. Already I see the usefulness of the Wiki. Meg sent out a call to arms for anyone who wanted to go visit Lumpkin's Jail. I signed up immediately which was very easy to do. This site will also help with keeping the saturday schedules updated!
Next for week 8, I took a look at the Google Documents. I took the tour which was not as inciteful as I hoped, but I am sure it is one of those things where I just have to fiddle around with it to learn how it works. I especially like that the Google documents feature is almost like a usb drive thingy that I used all the time in college to save documents and transport them to other computers. This is so much better because you can easily access your documents on your google without having to save them to your email which the documents might not transfer as nicely on to.
All in all a success!!

week 6
so this week, we looked at facebook, myspace, and Linkdin. I have never really saw the need of a facebook or myspace account, but I really like the Linkdin website. I immediately signed up! I think this will be very beneficial to the VHS especially for the staff.
I had learned about meebo two years so I was excited that I actually knew about one of the websites that we explored for this week. It is easy to use which is also a plus!

week 5
hola hola!
So this week we had to look at Delicious.com which was delicious! I really like how you can get to your favorite bookmarks on any computer and they organize themselves for you. I was especially excited to learn about the website swapbooks.com. I will definately have to take a closer look at all these bookmarks available.
And the Technorati.com website would be very beneficial to the VHS if we can get even MORE posts, photos, and videos about us up on the site!!

Flickr was interesting. I have used photo online thingys before like snapfish.com and of course facebook, but flickr was definately different in a good way for me. The Library of Virginia photos were nice to see and I think it would be a good idea to have some of our images on flickr too. I used Spell with Flickr which was funny and cute, but I could not get the Flickr color pick one to come up which was disappointing.
